Three Filipino men who were involved in a brawl in Central on Hong Kong Island were allowed to post bail pending further police questions on charges of fighting in public.
The three Filipinos – brothers Enrique “Ricky” and Denise Lizo and Sebastian Chancell Wong (aka Sebastian Yip), a muay-Thai instructor and Hong Kong resident – were sent to Queen Mary Hospital after the melee took place on Sunday, sunwebhk.com reported.
A fourth person said to have been involved in the brawl, professional boxer Jay Primo Solmiano, reportedly turned himself in at Central Police Station on Wednesday, after reports he had gone into hiding.
Pictures of all three, with their faces bloodied and eyes puffy from the apparent beating, circulated on social media shortly after video footage taken during the fight was posted online.
As of Friday, the video went viral on Facebook receiving over a million views.
An earlier report said Solmiano was seemingly drunk when he was seen publicly punching and kicking Ricky as one of his friends appeared to be slapping a woman before the brothers intervened.
The Sunweb report said Ricky feared his brother Denise would get hurt as he knew Wong was a professional fighter. He admitted hitting Wong over the head with a beer bottle, which he had taken from a pub they had just left.
Solmiano, who was seen in the videos initially trying to stop the fight, ended up hitting Ricky to defend his friend Wong, leaving the driver black and blue, his lips busted, and his nose bloodied and apparently broken.
In a separate interview with a Philippine TV station, Wong denied that he had hit his woman companion. He claimed the woman was drunk and out of control so he tried to pacify her by holding her by the hand.
Wong showed pictures of his stitched broken lip and head wounds to prove that he was wounded in the scuffle.
Solmiano, who posted an apology on his Facebook page for being involved in the brawl, has since deactivated his account.
Police had yet to respond to queries about the incident.
