Police are hunting a middle-aged man allegedly involved in an animal abuse case in Ta Mo Shan in the New Territories on Thursday.
At 10:22am, police received a report from a construction worker called Lee. He reported a suspicious man dragging a calf skin downhill from Tai Mo Shan Weather Radar Station, Sing Pao reported.
Although Lee was driving his car and it was raining outside, he was able to see that the calf was dead, and that its abdomen seemed “flat”.
Police officers responding to the call later arrived at the scene and found a dead calf hanging on a trail post on Tai Mo Shan Road.
The calf was about 1 meter-long, its abdomen had been sliced open, and most of its bones and its internal organs had been removed.
As there was no blood near where the carcass was found, officers believed that the calf was killed elsewhere.
Police classified the case as one of cruelty to animals and officers are now looking for a local man aged around 50. He is approximately 1.7 meters tall with a strong build and short black hair.
Other media reporting on the case, including news website HK01.com and Apple Daily, claim that police are looking for a South-Asian man.
