A 62-year-old man pleaded guilty in the United States on Monday to paying people in the Philippines to perform sexual acts on children and stream the acts via webcam.
According to the US Department of Justice, Mark Corum, of Sacramento, California, paid adult Filipinos between US$25 and $35 to abuse sexually children ranging from infancy to 10 years of age. Corum also ordered the adults to live-stream the abuse.
A California court said Corum had visited the Philippines and engaged in sexual acts with children there. The court also said that on June 23, 2016, he sent images of children being abused to another person via the Internet.
On Monday in the US District Court, Eastern District of California, Corum pleaded guilty to four counts of production of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography.
He faces a maximum jail term of 20 years for a single count of distribution of child pornography and a maximum of 30 years on each of four counts of production of child pornography. He also faces a fine of $250,000 on each count.
