A video that went viral on social media showed a man banging the hood of a police vehicle in Yuen Long, New Territories, early on Sunday, yet the officers inside did not arrest him or even warn him, but just drove away.
A two-minute video uploaded on to a Facebook page named “Hong Kong Honest” showed a middle-aged man banging the front of the vehicle and scolding the officers inside on Sai Yu Street in Yuen Long at 3am on Sunday.
The man aged around 50 surnamed Cheung was said to be a triad member, Apple Daily reported.
Cheung, who appeared to be drunk, hit the hood of the police vehicle, pointed at a female sergeant and two officers who were inside it, and yelled, “Leave!”
No one got out of the vehicle, or make any attempt to restrain the man. They just drove away slowly.
Meanwhile, another man dressed in a black T-shirt scolded Cheung, telling him not to yell, and left.
The video clip ended showing Cheung leaving the scene accompanied by two friends.
The uploader asked, “Who is the big boss in the video? Who is the big boss in Yuen Long after midnight?”
Many netizens criticized the officers for the way they handled the situation, accusing them of cowardice.
