A 28-year-old domestic worker from Myanmar has been arrested in Macau for allegedly assaulting a two-year-old girl under her care.
The worker surnamed Van, who was employed by a family of working parents in January, told her female employer on April 26 that the two-year-old injured her forehead when she lost her balance while playing at home, Macau Daily News reported.
The employer believed what the domestic worker said and asked her to take the girl for a medical check the following day.
However, after an examination at the clinic, medical staff said the girl needed to sent to Conde S. Januário Hospital for treatment as the doctor suspected the girl was being abused due to injuries found on her head, arms and legs.
The employer reported to police as they suspected the abuse was done by the domestic worker.
After looking at footage from the home’s surveillance camera, officers found the girl being hit on her head with a wooden spoon on April 25. They also found footage from April 26 with sound of the girl crying, but no picture of what had happened to her.
Police arrested the domestic worker in a flat on Avenida do Almirante Lacerda for alleged common assault.
