The suspects in the murder of Joanna Demafelis, a Filipino domestic worker whose body was found in a freezer in Kuwait, will not be extradited to that country for trial.
Philippine presidential spokesman Harry Roque said the Lebanese suspects, Nader Essam Assaf and his wife Mona, would not be extradited to Kuwait but would go on trial in Lebanon, Manila Times reported.
“They will not extradite them to Kuwait but there will be a trial in Lebanon with participation from the Kuwait authorities as well as Philippine authorities,” Roque said.
In February, the body of Demafelis was found in a freezer in an apartment in Kuwait. According to investigations, the woman had been abused and then strangled to death by her employers before her body was stuffed inside the freezer.
The employers, Assaf and his wife, were arrested in Syria and handed over to Lebanese authorities.
Wrong. These MURDERERS should be extradited to Kuwait because the CRIME / MURDER happened there. I am sure the MASTERMIND was the Syrian wife, her husband was just an accessory.
