A 44-year-old Filipina domestic worker was sent to hospital after police were told she was obstructing commuters at the Fortress Hill Mass Transit Railway Station on Hong Kong Island on Tuesday.
At 9:15am on Tuesday, police received a report that a Filipina was acting strangely and blocking commuters inside the station, sunwebhk.com reported.
Video footage uploaded to social media showed the maid appearing to be deep in prayer while reportedly chanting “Ako ang tagapagligtas ninyong lahat”, or I am your savior. At one point, the woman prostrated herself on the floor beside the station’s turnstiles as a crowd gathered to watch.
Police arrived and sent her to Ruttonjee Hospital in Wan Chai for before transferring her to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital. Police described it as a case of “suspected mentally disordered person found.”
Lorna Obedoza from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration office in Hong Kong confirmed the woman was a maid who had worked in North Point for the past seven years. Her employers had reportedly been told about the incident and had visited her in hospital.
Obedoza added that the woman’s relatives in Southern Leyte in the Philippines had been informed.
