A Filipino maid was sentenced to 40 years in jail after being found guilty of murdering two people during a robbery in 2009. On September 1, 2009, film critics Alexis Tioseco and his partner Nika Bohinc were shot dead by robbers at their home in Barangay West Triangle in Quezon City, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.
Their maid, Criselda Dayag, who was hired by Tioseco in October 2009, went into hiding for more than six years after the incident. She was arrested on February 29, 2016, in Angeles City, Pampanga. Dayag pleaded not guilty in court.
On May 4 in the Quezon City Regional Trial Court, Dayag was found guilty beyond reasonable doubt of the crime of robbery with homicide. She was also ordered to pay PHP350,000 (US$6,728) to each of Tioseco and Bohinc’s heirs.
“Without her active involvement from the very moment she opened the door of the house and let the assailants in, up to the time she went with the assailants voluntarily, the crime would not have been committed and consummated,” the judge said.
Kalokohan! Papa-kamatay ka sa saksak? Ano Hara-kiri?
To continue sending our people to Kuwait and Saudi Arabia as DH is uncontionable. The abuses that they have to suffer is a constant reminder that the promise of a better and more lucrative job is an illusion. The degradation and sometimes death is a very high price to pay. People take chances and don’t really understand the dangers. All they see are the benefits. It is up to our government to stop sending our people to these places and punish the agencies that encourage them. There are other places that they can obtain better employments. Why insist on these places. Enough. Save our people from abuse and loss of life.
Let her ROT in hell.
