A video from a dashboard camera showing a woman throwing herself in front of a car in Kowloon has gone viral on social media. The 13-second video, which is believed to have been taken at 7am on March 9, shows a vehicle traveling along Tat Chee Avenue near Tsuek Kiu Street in Kowloon Tong, the Oriental Daily reported.

The video shows the car slowing to a stop at a zebra crossing as the driver notices a woman standing on the side of the road looking like she is about to cross.

Instead of crossing the road, the middle-aged woman dragging a suitcase runs onto the road and throws herself at the front of the stationary car and then falls to the ground.

When the video surfaced on social media it caused a sensation and generated some heated discussions. Most people suspected the woman was a scammer who demanded money from drivers for her ‘injuries.’ Netizens also said police should launch an investigation.

According to police, a 43-year-old man reported the ‘accident’ on March 9 and when officers arrived, the woman claimed to be injured. She was sent to hospital reportedly in a conscious state, the Sing Tao Daily reported.

After an initial investigation, police said the 41-year-old woman had not asked for any compensation from the driver. Police said the woman reportedly had a mental disability and no charges were laid.
