A 29-year-old male teacher has been arrested for allegedly filming a female student in the ladies’ room of a school in a Yuen Long in the New Territories last month.

On Thursday police confirmed that on March 14 they arrested a man in Yuen Long after receiving a report from a secondary school in the district. The report alleged that a male teacher was caught trying to take a photo on his mobile phone of a female student in the ladies’ room, Sing Pao reported.

The student left the toilet and called for help. Many students rushed to the ladies’ room and when the teacher emerged he told them he was playing hide-and-seek and went into the toilet by accident. The students then filed a complaint to the school management.

It is believed the teacher resigned on the same day when the school principal asked him about the incident. The school reported the case to the Yuen Long police at 8pm on March 14 and officers arrested the teacher for allegedly accessing a computer with criminal or dishonest intent.

The man was released on bail pending further enquiries and must report to police in May.
