A 53-year-old restaurant owner was sent to hospital after being assaulted on a street in Tai Po in the New Territories last Monday by a group of six men suspected of being members of a triad gang.

At 8pm on Monday, six men thought to be aged between 17 and 27 had a quarrel with the owner of a restaurant on Yan Hing Street in Tai Po, Headline Daily reported.

video clip uploaded to Facebook by a group named Tai Po showed the gang quarreling with the in front of the restaurant before pushing him to the ground. They then punched and kicked him after one of the men yelled “beat him up.”

Two women who were with the gang tried to stop the beating, telling the men “he will die.” Police later arrived and arrested a 28-year-old man they claimed was a member of the triads. Police are hunting the other five men who fled after the attack.

The restaurant owner suffered a head injury was sent to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital for treatment. The Tai Po district anti-triad squad is following up the case.
