China’s new defense minister Wei Fenghe has reportedly said during a visit to Moscow that China is ready to support Russia against the US.
“I am visiting Russia as a new defense minister of China to show the world a high level of development of our bilateral relations and firm determination of our armed forces to strengthen strategic cooperation,” Wei said at a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, according to a report by state-run Tass Russian News Agency.
“Second, to support the Russian side in organizing the Moscow International Security Conference the Chinese side has come to show Americans the close ties between the armed forces of China and Russia, especially in this situation. We’ve come to support you,” he added. “The Chinese side is ready to express with the Russian side our common concerns and common position on important international problems at international venues as well.”
Wei is attending the seventh Moscow International Security Conference with a delegation of other high-level Chinese military officials. He emphasized to the Russian press that his trip was coordinated directly with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The annual security conference hosted by Russia’s Defense Ministry is focusing this year on the defeat of terrorists in Syria. The Russian side is said to be sharing its experience on combating ISIS. It’s also providing assessments on future developments in the Middle East, including post-conflict rehabilitation.
“Security issues facing Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America will also be in the spotlight of the forum. Special session will address [the] ‘soft power’ phenomenon as a tool to pursue military-political objectives,” the ministry said in a statement.

Kelvin Onuabuchi Onyia You don’t, really? Ask Ukraine who intimidate it; ask any country in South East Asia who intimidate it?
The effects of all dictatorships through out human existence cannot be equated or compared to the negative impact the expansionist west has caused the world in terms of destruction ,bloodshed and total destabilization of regions and emerging economies.
Adebiyi Leke Sunday the Chinese people are peculiar people they copy you for the simple purpose of developing their economy and their people, their religion and their culture is embedded in the disciplined political system. The west insistence on democracy is because it is easy to manipulate for them and planting puppets in the name of the people.
The only dictatorship is the one trying to dictate to the whole world at the same time, intimidating small nations and distablising developing economies and making sure they stiffle competition in all fronts and I Dont think Russia and China are guilty of this.
Russia certainly comes in handy to bully China in the face of US navy presence on the South China Sea which is a threat to its expansionist exploits in South Asia.
We now live in a multipolar world.Gone are days of America’s world dorminance. For us in Africa, this is music to our ears.We are now free to align ourselves with whoever has our best interest without bieng dictated to by American.
So is it a threat to US by these two emerging Super Powers to stay quite and not making the situation much tense?? if US thinks they are trying to destabilize the whole world with such muscle power and takes other measures to bring them on knee then what would remain to save for them? China must not act childish manner while Russia is exposed on international terrorism already. If China is thinking taking Russian Market due to recent tradewar with USA it should not come with such kind of statements from such an accountable position.
Richard Truong they’re learning from them and there’s plenty examples hmmmm where do i start.
Im pretty sure u are aware that Xi tenure has been extended indefinetly, meaning that the control of China by Xi is until he dies!
I observed that too. Some people are always talking to each other these days: Putin, Xi, Erdogan, Sisi, Modi, Orban and Duterte.
india and china and Russia should join together world most power full combination unbelivable strenth .
lot of development will happen export and import develops lot
roadways and railways , tourisiom develops
Good move
At the end of the day, China is Russia’s primary threat.
Democracy is a failed foreign policy of the so called west its now interesting that we have a multipolar system the USA is slowly loosing the grip it had
Beto Perez
dictatorships? that is the propaganda that the West media tries to display around the world, China is not a dictatorship. She has an authoritarian socialist meritocracy. Russia has a president elected by her people.
A dictator is a person who governs his country as he wishes and his control of his country never ends. The law is him.
Two more points that I would like to opine on, 1-Germany has supossedly a democratic country. Yet, Merkel is been around the longest. In USA the president is not elected by her people but by the Electoral College.
2- The way the world is evolving I see democracy becoming a stale notion. This is largely due to the increasing number of countries who are under this democratic system corruption and chaos prevails. Take Israel the primer minister have been accused. of corruption, USA and her Trump, Spain/Caledonia. The worse part of it is that some of those countries are the pillars of the democracy notion. The preachers who go around the world demonstrating the virtues of this notion. And at the same time they seem saying , Follow what I say, Not What I do
And Trumpee thought he could push the Bears around to please his corporate masters; he best be going back to what he’s qualified to do, sucking his thumb & his masters’ dicks
This is merely a show & a statement of intent. Real-time events, actions & reactions (possibly engineered or influenced by the U.S) on the int’l political stage as it concerns realpolitik & struggle for geopolitical interest & space could alter whatever ‘propaganda show’ they gat going on.
This is bound to happen. Bullied countrjes are bound to form an alliance to enhance their ability to address the bullying.
The headline is a bit inflammatory. The piece simply says that the defence minister would express support for Russia on issues they had a common position on. Meaningful, but somewhat anodyne.
