A 6-year-old Japanese boy injured his right foot when it was caught in an escalator in Yuen Long shopping mall in the New Territories on Tuesday.
At about noon, the boy and his father were standing on an escalator going up to the second floor of the Yoho Mall in Yuen Long, Sing Tao Daily reported.
The boy, who was wearing a pair of green soft-soled sandals, accidentally jammed his right foot in a gap in the escalator. The accident triggered the safety alarm, bringing the escalator to a stop.
The boy screamed in pain while his father held him and comforted him as firemen loosened the escalator steps and freed the boy’s foot. He was sent to Pok Oi Hospital for treatment.
