Chinese internet giant Tencent which lays claim to the motto “Make AI Everywhere,” announced that it has launched its advanced robot laboratory “Robotics X,” Yicai.com reported.

On the same day, the company also reached strategic cooperation with Nature Research, a subsidiary of academic publisher Springer Nature, which aims to promote interdisciplinary research in the field of “AI+Medical.”

Thus, the internet giant has established its three major core strategies to explore the artificial intelligence technology:  Robotics X, General AI and AI+Medical.

Yao Xing, vice president of Tencent, admitted that robotics is a broad concept, but it could be anything from a sound box, a pair of glasses, or even a humanoid robot. Its definition should be a connection carrier between the virtual and the real world, he said.

Like the AI Lab, Robotics X will be part of the Tencent Technology Engineering Group. Both labs are the foundation supporting arms of Tencent’s AI ambition.
