A four-year-old Indonesian girl from Ampang in Kuala Lumpur was allegedly physically abused and knocked unconscious after being left in the care of her mother’s 56-year-old friend.

At 6:30pm on March 11, police were informed by staff at the Hospital Ampang about a suspected case of child abuse where the victim had lost consciousness and her body was covered in bruises, the Sin Chew Daily in Malaysia reported.

Two Malaysian men, who identified themselves as the girl’s relatives, said she was found unconscious in the bathroom at her home, possibly due to a seizure.

After examining the girl, the hospital report showed she had a severe brain hemorrhage and injuries to her forehead, chest and to the lower part of her right leg.

Police learned that the girl’s mother, who worked as a domestic helper, had left the child with a friend while she went to work.

On February 18, the mother said her daughter looked upset when the two made a video call. Three days later she visited her friend’s home where she found her unconscious daughter’s face and ears swollen. The man looking after the child then fled.

Police are now searching for the 56-year-old man who is suspected of physically abusing the young Indonesian girl.
