A Filipino domestic worker in Kuwait was seen cleaning the windows on the second floor of her employer’s home without any safety equipment.  A video of the incident was sent to an Australian man named George Raphael, who has helped abused domestic workers in Kuwait leave their employers, GMA News reported.

The video was taken by another Filipino worker and sent to Raphael, seeking his assistance.

Raphael said that in his six years living in Kuwait, he had met domestic workers who had been molested or sold to different employers. He said one maid was sexually abused by four men in her employer’s house.

He has rescued many abused Filipino domestic workers and taken them to the Philippine Embassy, and some were hired to work in his restaurant.

Under guidelines in place in Singapore, when a domestic worker is cleaning a window in a high-rise building, she should be accompanied by an adult, and should avoid standing on a chair or any object with wheels.

In Hong Kong, a domestic worker is only allowed to clean windows with one arm outside, rather than all or part of her body.
