A 28-year-old Filipino domestic worker was arrested in the Shatin area of Hong Kong’s New Territories on Wednesday for allegedly ill-treating a 16-month-old girl.

News website HK01.com reports that at 11pm, a 34-year-old man surnamed Yiu took his daughter to Prince of Wales Hospital as the girl had a head injury.

The father reported to police at the hospital that he suspected the family’s domestic worker of dropping the girl to the ground and hurting her head at their flat in Yu Man House, Yu Chui Court.

Police officers from the Shatin Police station subsequently arrested the domestic worker. The case has been classed as ill-treatment or neglect by a person in charge of a child or young person. Further investigations are pending.

According to Oriental Daily, the domestic worker is a Filipina.
