Two Filipino boxers will compete against each other for a world championship title at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, on April 14.
Jerwin Ancajas, 26, the current holder of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) Junior Bantamweight title, will compete against Jonas Sultan, 26, in an attempt to retain the crown, ABS-CBN Sports reported.
Ancajas will be defending the title for the fifth time, while Sultan will be competing in his first ever international tournament.
The Ancajas-Sultan bout is the second all-Filipino world title fight, but the first to be held in the United States. The first world title bout between two Filipinos was held in 1925 in Rizal Park in Manila.
Ancajas, who is from Davao, won the IBF Junior Bantamweight title in September 2016. Sultan, who is from Zamboanga del Norte province, won the IBF Intercontinental Junior Bantamweight title in December 2016.
