An 80-year-old man was arrested on Monday for allegedly molesting his foreign domestic worker in a village house in Yuen Long, in Hong Kong’s New Territories.
At 4pm, police received a report from a 36-year-old woman that she had been molested by her male employer in the village house on Shek Tin Road in Yuen Long’s Pat Heung area, news website HK01.com reported.
The report did not disclose the maid’s nationality.
Police classified the case as indecent assault, and it was followed up by a crime-investigation team from Yuen Long Police Station.
According to the Crime Ordinance, the maximum punishment for the offense of indecent assault is 10 years’ imprisonment.
That’s not an isolated case, most employers regardless of nationality have that kind of attitude, when something is missing they blame their helpers. In reality its now a norm amongst OFW’S, most often tight lipped for the sake of not igniting trouble in such a case because if we reason out they would say they don’t accept explanation. If we say we don’t know, they again will say do not used that phrase again. So how to express ourselves and defend ourselves from certain accussations if no freedom to talk? Good enough the employer found it if not it will be a burden for the helper. And even apologizes which is a rare character for employers. Sometime employers should be aware of their responsibility inside the house too not just relying much on the helper to tidy up after their personal belongings like undies or clothes cluttered on the floor or bathroom sink. Annoying reality of OFW life with chatterbox employer as well as a topsy turvy personality.

This only shows that there’s a lot of employers who have no heart regardless how long their helpers work with them. They won’t employ a unreliable helper for long. So if a helper have signed 3 contracts or more for the same employer it means that both party get along well. It means that the employers can trust to leave their children upon the helper’s care while at the same time the helper is expected to do all the house chores. But instead of treating their helper as part of their family after being loyal and working hard, the employers will change their attitude towards the helper and make things harder for the helper in order the helper will quit her job and the employer is save to pay the lsp, it’s so unfair for the helper. I hope the government could settle this problem.
Its already old why she never fight and run away
