A Filipino woman who tried to mediate during a quarrel in a pub between a friend and her boyfriend in a pub in Central on Hong Kong Island learnt a tough lesson last night – sometimes it’s best not get involved.

At 2am on Monday, a South Asian man and his Filipino girlfriend were arguing in a pub on Li Yuen Street West in Central, Oriental Daily reported.

A 35-year-old female friend of the couple, also Filipina, saw the couple quarreling and tried to help mediate in their dispute.

However, she ended up being hit by her compatriot with a beer bottle, which left her with a nasty bleeding head wound.

The culprit left the pub with her boyfriend after the assault, Headline Daily reported.

An employee of the pub reported the case to police and the injured woman was sent to hospital for medical treatment.
