A 56-year-old former policeman fell to his death from his home in Aberdeen on Hong Kong Island on Tuesday.

The retired sergeant surnamed Fok was found lying unconscious at 11am on the podium on the 2nd floor of Kong Fu Court at Aberdeen Center, Sing Tao Daily reported.

Police and paramedics arrived but Fok was pronounced dead at the scene.

After an initial investigation, officers found a window open in his flat on the 22nd floor of the same building, with clothes hanging outside.

It is suspected that Fok climbed to the flower boxes built on the exterior of the building to get the clothes back but lost his balance and fell to the podium. No suicide note was found.

Fok served in the police force for 30 years and had just started his retirement last month.
