A woman who was transporting her five-year-old son and her foreign domestic helper in a private car accidentally crashed into a tree at Bukit Panjang, Singapore, on Tuesday, damaging the front of the vehicle severely.

A witness said the vehicle bore a P-plate, which indicates that the driver is newly qualified.

The incident took place at 1:38pm on Bukit Panjang Ring Road, opposite West Spring Primary School, Lianhe Wanbao (Singapore) reported.

A witness to the incident, a taxi driver who wished to remain anonymous, said the car with a P-plate attached mounted the sidewalk and then came to a halt only after its collision with a tree.

The newspaper learned that the driver’s maid and son were also in the vehicle at the time of the incident. The trio, who remained conscious after the impact, were sent to National University Hospital for examination and treatments.

According to the preliminary investigation, the driver claimed that she had lost control of her car while making a turn at a junction. A road sign was also damaged in the incident.

Singapore police continued their investigation of the incident.
