A Filipino domestic worker has sought government assistance after accusing her employer of physical and sexual abuse in Kuwait.

Marjorie Lizada, 24, who went to Kuwait in October 2016, said the abuse started during her first six months there, GMA News reported.

According to her cousin Juliet Magtanan, Lizada said her employers removed her toenails and threatened to kill her. Magtanan claimed that her cousin had also been sexually molested by her employer’s son.

Magtanan advised Lizada to escape from her employer’s home when she had the chance. However, the maid is always locked in the house when her employers leave.

Lizada’s family sought help from the Philippine government’s Overseas Workers Welfare Administration but got no response initially. However, OWWA administrator Hans Cacdac said it was now working with its office in Kuwait to rescue Lizada.
