After locals and visitors in Hong Kong enjoyed a warm and sunny Lunar New Year holiday, cold weather is forecast to return on Thursday.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 14 degrees Celsius on Thursday as a cold front reaches the south China coast, according to a nine-day weather bulletin on the Hong Kong Observatory’s website.

On Tuesday afternoon, the temperature reached 25 degrees, but the associated northeast monsoon will bring rather cool weather to the region in the latter part of this week, the city’s official forecaster said.

Rain is expected on Wednesday and Thursday and the temperature will fall appreciably, with a minimum of around 14 degrees.

On the weekend, temperatures will start to go up gradually as the monsoon is expected to moderate.
