Six more people died from influenza in Hong Kong on Monday, bringing the death toll to 271 since the beginning of this year. The Center for Health Protection recorded eight adult flu patients as serious cases on Monday, Oriental Daily reported, adding that 452 serious cases have been recorded so far this year.

On the first day that schools reopened after the Lunar New Year holiday, two kindergartens recorded flu outbreaks, with eight children affected.

So far, 13 of 15 children diagnosed as serious flu cases have been discharged from hospitals. Two children died from the influenza B virus.

On Monday, 6,069 patients required emergency service in public hospitals. The inpatient bed occupancy rate among all public hospitals reached 115%, while United Christian Hospital in Kwun Tong was the worst in bed supply.
