Three men were arrested shortly after a burglary attempt at a betting outlet in Perak, Malaysia, on Sunday night. At 11:30pm on Sunday, the three suspects, aged between 20 and 30, allegedly broke into the shop through the back door on Jalan Besar Menglembu in the Ipoh City area, Sin Chew Daily (Malaysia) reported on Wednesday.
The owner was instantly notified by the security system, which sent a break-in alert to his mobile device. He then called the police for assistance.
Ipoh police chief Mohd Ali Tamby said a patrol team was dispatched to the scene, where they found the suspects inside the unit. They tried to escape, but failed.
Several break-in tools were seized at the scene.
According to a preliminary police investigation, the suspects were in the middle of trying to cut open the safe when they were caught.
Damages had yet to be determined at the time of the report.
