An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who recently returned home from Saudi Arabia has been shot dead by two unknown assailants in Davao Oriental.

At 5pm on January 5, Junifer Paredes, who was working as an engineer in Saudi Arabia, was driving home in Dahican village when two men riding a motorcycle shot him multiple times, Philippine Daily Inquirer reports.

The two suspects escaped after killing Paredes, who was pronounced dead on arrival at Davao Oriental Provincial Hospital.

According to the Southern Mindanao Police, several spent shells from a cal. 45 pistol were recovered at the crime scene.

The police said the motive and identities of the suspects are still unknown. An investigation is ongoing.
