Philippines entrant Katarina Rodriguez was named first runner-up in the Miss Intercontinental beauty pageant at the Sunrise Garden Resort in Egypt, with the crown going to Mexico’s Veronica Salas Vallejo.
Rodriguez, a 24-year-old model and video jockey, went to the pageant in Hurghada after winning the Miss Intercontinental Asia and Oceania title. She was also second runner-up in Asia’s Next Top Model in 2014.


She is the second Filipino to be runner-up in the Miss Intercontinental pageant, after Christi Lynn McGarry in 2015, Rappler reported.

Veronica Salas Vallejo was handed her crown by Miss Intercontinental 2016 Heilymar Rosario Velasquez of Puerto Rico in the pageant, which was held on January 24. The other four finalists were Lee Su Jin from Korea, Lizeth Mendieta from Colombia, Amanda Cardoso from Brazil and Catherlinjne Heppenhuis from the Netherlands.
