A Filipino domestic worker in Hong Kong has not received any compensation from her employer after being waylaid by a dislocated shoulder, while her boss claims the family is moving.
On December 28, Samantha, 28, injured her shoulder while trying to grab a towel after bathing, sunwebhk.com reported. On January 5, she had surgery for the injury at Princess Margaret Hospital in Kwai Chung. After the operation, her employer asked her friends to get Samantha’s things out of the apartment as his family was moving, apparently out of Hong Kong.
The employer also said he would refer Samantha to a Canadian friend if she still wanted to work in Hong Kong.
Samantha was advised by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office to seek help from the Hong Kong Labor Department if she wanted compensation for her injury. She was also told that her contract could not be terminated while she was on sick leave.
In Hong Kong, employers are liable to pay compensation for injuries that are sustained by their employees in the course of employment.

Fight for your right, go for the compensation you deserve it! Nangyari din sa akin yan nahulog ako sa upuan naputol ang smallest metatarsal bone ko sa left side. Nakasemento paa ko for 6 weeks. Ayon awa naman ni Lord nakaraos at nakatanggap ako ng compensation pero may procedure yan at dapat ireport sa labor department. Sila na ang magkukuwenta kung magkano matatanggap mo. Wait mo lang ang letter from labor then sunod sunod na yon kung ano ang gagawin mo.

It’s v easy for labor officers to call ur employer. If u go to labor dept.they will let u write down ur employer’s name and phone no..they will call asap.i had an experience bfore.my boss waa reluctant to pay then d labor dept.called her and she sertled wd me..

di siya pwedy iterminate while on going medication lalo na may mga next appointment siya sa hospital kailangan taposin muna yong medication make sure fit to work and clear na bago iterminate ganon ginawa ng amo ko 1 year yong medication ko noong natapis na lahat don na niya ako tenirminate malaki laban ni samantha may makukuha siyang conpensation kasi on going pa medication niya

most employers are like that in HK if they can avoid rhey will, not many pay insurance which they are obliged by law.
No DH insurance ? All employers must buy insurance for thier DH in Hk law.
I think the employer does’nt know her liability. An employer can not terminate an injured DH, while she is under contract. The DH can file charges to the employer.
