A Filipino worker in Abu Dhabi has been given a house and lot in her hometown in the Philippines by her Emirati employer.
Dina Tenerife Celo, a 45-year-old single mother, was given 23,000 dirhams (US$6,263) by her employer Melissa McPike to buy a block of land in Camarines Sur in the Philippines. McPike will also pay for the construction of Celo’s house, The Khaleej Times reported.
Celo worked for McPike in 1998 and took care of her employer’s two sons. However, when her contract ended two years later, she worked in coffee shops and supermarkets in Saudi Arabia.
She and her employer kept in touch and in 2014, Celo returned to work for McPike and has stayed since.
McPike said Celo was trustworthy and hardworking. She said she does not consider Celo as an employee but as part of the family.
Celo said she did not have any money for a house despite working in the UAE for 20 years. She said her dream was coming true thanks to her employer’s generosity.
She really deserves…with that long honest service..God bless those employers who are generous to their helpers

The name Melissa Mcpike is not an Arab nor an Emirati name, it sounds like an english, scottish, or Irish.
