A 50-year-old Sri Lankan hotel manager has been accused of groping a Filipino staff member twice at a hotel in Palm Jumeirah, an artificial archipelago off Dubai.

Last month, the 37-year-old Filipino attendant was modeling a newly proposed uniform for hotel staff during a general staff meeting, Gulf News reported.

After the meeting, the manager approached the woman to chat. He then allegedly patted her back and slid his hand down to her posterior and groped her twice.

The woman pulled away from him and informed her boss about the incident. Encouraged by a fellow employee, she also reported the incident to police.

On Thursday at the Dubai Court of First Instance, the accused pleaded not guilty, saying he had mistakenly and unintentionally touched the woman’s posterior.

However, a 45-year-old Pakistani employee said he had witnessed the incident. He accompanied the alleged victim to Al Barsha Police Station and gave a statement, Khaleej Times reported.

A ruling was to be announced on Monday.
