Hong Kong faces chilly days next week thanks to a cold front expected to reach the south China coast on Monday.

According to the Hong Kong Observatory’s nine-day weather forecast, a cold front is approaching and it will bring significant cold weather to the city.

The temperature is forecast to plunge on Monday and reach a low of 11 degrees Celsius.

Tuesday is likely to be cold all day. The temperature could drop further to 9 degrees Celsius with a high of just 12C, it said.

The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts said the temperature could drop to 6 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, while the mercury could go even lower in the New Territories, Oriental Daily reported.

The associated intense winter monsoon will continue to bring cold weather for the rest of next week, the forecasters said.
