A 42-year-old British man who went to the Philippines and filmed himself sexually abusing a two-year-old Filipino girl was jailed in his homeland for 10 to 14 years.
In November 2016, police raided the home of Timothy Smith in Tunbridge Wells, England, to investigate suspicious online activity. They found more than 37,000 indecent images of children on his hard drive, the British Broadcasting Corporation reported.
During the investigation, Smith admitted he had visited the Philippines in 2015 and repeatedly abused a victim under the age of five. He also admitted a sexual interest in young children and that he had been an offender for 10 years.
On November 9 this year, Smith pleaded guilty to 16 separate charges of various sex offenses at Maidstone Crown Court, talkRADIO reported.
He was charged with three counts of sexual assault of a child in 2015, one count sexual activity with a child in 2013, three counts of distributing indecent images of children, six counts of making indecent images of children, and three counts of taking indecent images of children
On Tuesday, Smith was sentenced to 10 years in jail with an extended license period (during which he could be re-incarcerated) of four years. He was also added to the UK sex offenders’ register for life.
