Hong Kong’s Ocean Park announced on Wednesday that it will raise its admission prices by 9 percent from January
Daytime admission tickets for adults will be raised to HK$480 (US$61) from HK$438, Headline Daily reports, while tickets for children will be HK$240, HK$21 more than the current price.
The decision follows a loss of HK$234 million in the 2016/2017 fiscal year. The park also recorded a dip in visitors to 5.8 million from six million in the previous year.
Focusing on the positives, Ocean Park Chairman Leo Kung said the park had seen growth in numbers of visitors from Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines and South Korea.
The park will also launch a new birthday discount scheme next year for Hong Kong ID card holders. Claimants will be able to purchase up to four tickets at a 15% discount during their birthday month. Hong Kong residents already enjoy complimentary admission on their birthday.
