Hong Kong people who plan to go out to celebrate New Year’s Eve should remember to put on some warm clothes on Sunday as the temperature is forecast to drop by 7 degrees Celsius overnight, hitting a low of 15.
According to the Hong Kong Observatory, the temperature on Saturday will reach a high of 22 degrees but will drop to 15 on Sunday as a replenishment of the northeast monsoon reaches the south China coast on New Year’s Eve.
The Observatory said the weather for the next couple of days would remain fine but, starting midweek, an easterly airstream was expected to affect the coast of Guangdong province, bringing cloudy weather and a few rain patches.
In the latter part of next week, another surge of the northeast monsoon will bring cold weather to southern China.
The temperature in Hong Kong will drop gradually and the lowest will be 13 degrees on January 7.
