Four people were sentenced to at least 15 months in prison at Sha Tin Magistrates Court on Saturday for working illegally in Hong Kong.

Immigration department officers and the police arrested three men, two from Pakistan and one from Bangladesh, last week after being caught working in the delivery sector.

Aged between 23 and 37, they were picked up for working in Kowloon’s Mong Kok district without valid papers, Sing Pao reported. Each received a 15-month prison sentence.

In another raid, a  a 50-year-old Vietnamese woman was arrested at a restaurant in the New Territories on December 7 for working as a dish washer without valid papers, Oriental Daily reported. She also possessed a forged Hong Kong ID card and was sentenced to 18 months.
