A Filipina domestic worker was found dead at her employer’s house in Riqqa in Kuwait on Tuesday, according to a report by Kuwait Times.

The female employer told police she went to check on her domestic worker, who was unusually late for her duties.

She found the maid’s body, which was hanging motionless with a rope from the ceiling, in the domestic worker’s bedroom.

The police classed the case as suicide and were investigating the woman’s death, Al-Rai Daily reported. Media reports did not provide more details about the deceased.

There are about 265,000 Filipinos living and working in Kuwait, most of them employed in household work and beauty parlors, the Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait Renato Pedro Villa said in a media interview in August.
