Jollibee, a fast-food multinational based in the Philippines, has released a video that pays tribute to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their sacrifices this Christmas season.
The video titled “Pamasko,” which means “Christmas gift” in the Filipino language, features an OFW couple’s sacrifices to provide Christmas presents for their son in the Philippines. However, what the son really wishes for is that his can celebrate Christmas together.
The OFW couple work in Dubai, one as a maid and the other as a driver. Each year, they send a boxful of gifts to their son in the Philippines. In one scene in the video, to afford the presents the maid has to sell a gold necklace that had been a gift from her husband.
After many years, the couple finally return to the Philippines to celebrate Christmas with their son, making his wish come true.

Many OFWs send parcels of gifts to their families in the Philippines, especially during the Christmas season. Every Christmas, the video notes at the end, thousands of OFWs return to their home country to celebrate the holiday with their loved ones.
Francis Flores, Jollibee’s global brand chief marketing officer and Jollibee Philippines marketing head, told BusinessMirror the film showed the true meaning of the holidays. “It is about sharing our time, love and joy with our families,” he said.
