President Rodrigo Duterte has told government departments not to use his picture on new overseas Filipino worker (OFW) identity cards after a storm of protests.
Earlier this week, Mocha Uson, assistant secretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) uploaded on her Facebook page pictures of the new OFW ID card issued by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Netizens slammed the design, saying Duterte’s picture was unnecessary. Some even pointed out that the OFW’s photograph was in black and white while Duterte’s was in color.
On Tuesday, he instructed government departments to use the images of national heroes such as Lapu-Lapu or Sikatuna, Rappler reported.
“I am requiring everybody, if you want to show a sense of loyalty to the country, display the paintings of our heroes,” he said during the Malacañang Press Corps Christmas party.
But Silvestre Bello III, secretary of DOLE, said they will not redesign the ID card because there were no complaints from the OFWs, Philippine Canadian Inquirer reported.
“Based on the 500 messages I received from OFWs, their reactions are favorable,” he said.
For me tatay Digongs picture is not a problem, only his critics were barking about it.Why they make it a big issue,it’s nothing compared to the Aquino faces In those phil money, and worstly in Manila airports!and besides almost all of us OFWs love ???? our president Duterte, and some of those opposing are not even Ofws,so bring it on tatay digong!
I am an OFW,and as a citizen of any country, bearing the National Flag with ur picture and identification is more relevant.Just the signature of a President is enough to be acknowledge. No country, even in a country with ruling Queen or King has not, never added thheir pictures in their citizen’s I D.
Mind you,Our president is also a hero so His photo should stay
Kung pwede sa lahat ng sulok sa pilipinas c PRRD ang ilagay kc siya ung totoong may malasakit sa bansa at sa mamamayang Pilipino…
No i wish PRRD picture is not in the card,
Ok lng sa akin kung may pic si pangulo sa ofw ID’s proud o ako kasi xa ang presidente
…not necessary to put a demon’s pic! He’s a druglord, killer, corrupt, liar!!!
So what , if the photo of the Pres.is there in the ofw id, its not a problem????
For Me as an OFW for 9years,picture of our BELOVED PRESIDENT in OFW ID showing that WE ARE SO PROUD HAVING A PRESIDENT like you TATAY Digong????????????BEcause you are also OUR HERO????????
For me Tatay Digong picture it’s okey no problem that’s the best President Godbless you always !!!
He is a mass killer and human rights violator so by no means a hero, you better correct your definition of a hero.
Will that mean DOLE will again spend money to replace the OFW ID card because Duterte is no longer the next president? OFW ID card should be valid for ten years like the passport. It would be unfair for the previous presidents who tokk care of OFWs also not not to be heralded in the ID cards. If they insist to put Duterte on those IDs, then put the faces of Pres. Noynoy Aquino, Glorais M. Aroyo, Fidel Castro, Joseph Estrada, Corazon Aquino, Ferdinand Marcos on cards of those OFWs with whichever president they have started working abroad.
Its a big no to his picture! Instead put there out national heroes!
Not a pretty looking card f his picture is in it even f his a president or done good things alot
Hero?????? Why?????
Its really true! Very simple! He will not be forever president i guess! Better cast his picture out and replace with national heroes or national views which is really forever!
Very simple! He will not be forever president i guess! Better cast his picture out and replace with national heroes or national views which is really forever! Im an ofw also,, am really disagree with PRRD’s picture in the ofw id card
It’s okay for me if the picture of the President is also their in that I’d picture I’m an OFW base in ALKHOBAR KSA
Just signature of Pres. Ok. That all
