Local forecasters say cooler weather is on the way, with a cold front set to arrive over the weekend.

The Observatory said an anti-cyclone over the northern part of the South China Sea would bring brighter weather to the southern coast of China in the next couple of days. However, a cold front is expected to reach southern China on Saturday, am730 reported.

The maximum temperature on Saturday could reach 26 degrees Celsius in the afternoon, but it would get cooler once the change arrives. The temperature was expected to drop significantly – to a low of 16 degrees Celsius on Sunday morning.

The temperature in Sheung Shui, Tseung Kwan O and Lau Fau Shan in the New Territories could drop to 15 degrees Celsius on Sunday, while Ta Kwu Ling in the North District could see a morning low of 14C, Ming Pao Daily reported.

The weather will be cloudy with a few patches of rain.

The cool weather is expected to last until early next week, when temperatures will pick up gradually.

People were advised to wear warm clothes if they go out early in the morning or late at night on Sunday.
