A measure to send the Senate tax reform bill to the floor for a vote was approved in Committee Thursday afternoon, moving Republican lawmakers and Trump one step closer to a key victory.
The vote, which fell along party lines, 12-11, was not without drama, as GOP Senators Ron Johnson (Wis.) and Bob Corker (Tenn.) had both expressed concerns about the bill. Obstacles still remain, as it is unclear whether Corker and Johnson — as well as another seven fellow Republican Senators who have expressed concerns about the legislation — are ready to vote to pass the bill in its current form in a floor vote.
Senate Republicans are hoping to bring the bill to a vote by Friday.
