Police were looking for three men suspected of causing damage in a restaurant with an airgun in Kowloon’s Yau Ma Tei area on Wednesday.
The three men were said have finished eating in a Chinese restaurant at 59 Woosung Street at 6am but got into an argument with staff over the bill of more than HK$200 (US$25), Oriental Daily reported.
The men asked for a discount but staff refused. After a quarrel, they finally paid the bill and left.
Fifteen minutes after the trio had left, the 55-year-old restaurant owner heard a loud bang. He went outside the restaurant and saw three men rushing past. He later found cracks in a display window and a hole in the glass, suspecting that the trio had returned for revenge.
Police conducted a search nearby but no suspect was found. As the hole was very small, police suggested that it was made by a pellet from an airgun, Sing Tao Daily reported.
Police classified the case as criminal damage and were hunting for three men, described as about 175 centimeters tall and with short hair.
