A 26-year-old domestic worker was found in a queue – and sleeping on a street for about a week – in Whampoa in Kowloon in a bid to buy concert tickets.
Ta Kung Pao received information from a local citizen that a domestic worker was found staying outside the Tom Lee Music store on Wan Hoi Street in Hung Hom’s Whampoa for at least a week.
After observation on Monday and Tuesday, a reporter for the paper found that the domestic worker had been staying at the back-door area of the music shop for several days and nights. The retailer has a concert ticket counter at the shop.
The woman was seen to rush around when she went to a washroom or had her lunch and dinner, before returning to her spot. At night, she slept on pieces of cardboard on the street with a blanket over the top.
The reporter approached the domestic worker on Monday and was told she had been in the queue for “a few days” after a request from her “boss” to buy tickets for a concert next year by Taiwanese musician and singer Jay Chou.
The worker showed a photo of Jay Chou’s concert information. But the report did not mention the nationality of the domestic worker.
Police also received a report on Monday night that a non-Chinese woman, aged 26, had been staying on Wan Hoi Street for several days. Officers were told that she had queued for concert tickets. They classed the case as miscellaneous.
At 4:30am on Tuesday, a reporter saw a middle-aged woman talking to the domestic worker for 10 minutes, who later went into a building at Whampoa Garden. However, the relationship between the women was not clear.
The concert organizer said tickets for Jay Chou’s concert, which will be held in March 2018, would be available in early December via Urbtix counters and websites.
Staff at Tom Lee said they didn’t know the exact date of sale but people interested to get tickets could wait at the back door area until they are available.
Lawyer Albert Luk Wai-hung said if a domestic worker was not happy to queue up for tickets in such a manner – voluntarily – her employer could be prosecuted for aiding or abetting a worker to breach the condition of his or her stay.
You don’t need to obey them if it’s un human. It’s cold outside, to stay and sleep there.. They are not GOD, they just human like us.
Ahjumma Ahjumma agree!if she isn’t stupid,she will not do what her boss ask her to do.we know that that’s NOT included in her stated "domestic work." we cant blame those employer who traited us not right because we just keep mum and afraid to report their wrongdoings when in fact we know whats between right and wrong.why so afraid when we knew that we have the right gov’t to turn to…? it’s just a matter of braveness to fight those ill bosses!

This is horrendous! Whoever is this “boss”, should be held liable for treating her inhumanely. This is an abuse of power and a violation of basic hunan right which. Is shelter and comfort. No one should be treated this way. It breaks my heart when I hear stories of maltreatment such as this.

Whom ever the worker is; sue the employer and get compensation. If the employer can do this to her there must be things much worse then this.

Poor helper does’nt have any choice at all..but to follow. Anyway, at the end of the day we will all die. And we will all be judge according to what we have done here on earth. Not by how well educated we are, how much money do we have at the bank, how popular we are …., God look at the heart of each and everyone of us.

Imagine…she slept there for few days..queued for few days and still dont know whrn she can get the ticket…why she allowed herself to be like that?…can she not reason out herself? Well， that is why so many people look down on us because of our status and we should not allowed it…what her employer asked her to do is not part of our job…we should know and protect our rights..there should be no place.of stupidity…and think also outside our shoe…

I am also a helper here near in mongkok.its not about being stupid Man.It is about our job sometimes because of our eagerness not to lose the job if we disobey our employers we are forced to do so.just as long as they are not hurting us and paying our monthly salary.now you understand?

They will sell the tickets in high price of the concert is nearly approaching. Just like queing at Apple stores before to get newly released iPhones in cheaper price and sell them on line in high price.
