Police arrested an elderly man on Wednesday who allegedly murdered a 73-year-old man for playing a radio loudly in a park in Sha Tin in the New Territories.

The 77-year-old suspect, surnamed Lai, had a quarrel with the victim, surnamed Poon, in the park in Kwong Yuen Estate in Sha Tin over the noise from Poon’s radio, Oriental Daily reported.

The quarrel turned physical and Poon was stabbed three times in his chest with a 10-centimeter long knife. He was found unconscious.

A security guard stopped the fight and called the police. Poon was sent to Prince of Wales Hospital, but was pronounced dead at around 5pm.

Lai was injured and sent to the hospital for treatment.

Police said the two men did not know each other although they lived in the same housing estate.

They suggested that the fight broke out due to a dispute over noise from the radio. An autopsy will be conducted on the victim, Apple Daily reported.
