Police are looking for burglars who broke into a luxury condo in Kowloon Tong in Kowloon in the early hours on Saturday.
The owner of the condo in Sunderland Estate on Hereford Road, a 65-year-old man surnamed Hung, went out for dinner at 8pm on Friday with his wife and they returned home five hours later, Sing Pao reported.
Hung found a safe in the wardrobe in his bedroom pried open and valuables inside, including HK$500,000 in cash (US$64,108), watches, necklaces, rings and bracelets worth about HK$3.5 million missing.
An initial investigation found no damage to wire screens around the housing estate. Police are investigating surveillance camera footage to see if any suspects appeared in the housing estate, Ta Kung Pao reported.
No one has been arrested yet.
