A 55-year-old man was attacked and robbed by five masked men in Hong Kong’s New Territories on Monday. The attack took place at 9:30pm as the victim was carrying HK$185,000 (US$23,700) that he wanted to deposit at an automated teller machine on the ground floor of Lucky Plaza in Shatin, Sing Pao reported.

One of the masked men punched the victim in the head, and he lost his balance and hit his head on the ground. The other four thieves grabbed his bag, which had the cash and a mobile phone inside, and escaped. The robbery victim was sent to hospital for medical treatment.

After viewing surveillance video, police believed that the victim had been followed by the gang of thieves all the way to the ATM.

Police are hunting the suspects, Oriental Daily reported.
