Hong Kong police were hunting two men after an attempted break-in at a villa in Kowloon on Tuesday. At 11pm, two men wearing masks and caps attempted to burglarize a home at Bellevue Villa, a luxury residential area on Lam Ha Road in Fei Ngo Shan, or Kowloon Peak, Oriental Daily reported.
There are four residences in Bellevue Villa, and one of them has been under renovation. It is believed that the two men first climbed over wire netting to enter the residential area, then they got a wooden ladder from the home under renovation and used it to climb into the area of the home they were trying to break into.
A 39-year-old Nepali domestic worker heard a dog barking. He went out to investigate and caught the two men trying to climb the ladder, so he grabbed a shovel and hit the leg of one of the culprits, HK01.com reported.
The two intruders then escaped. No one was hurt and no valuables were lost.
The domestic worker called the police. Officers launched a search around the area but no arrests were made.
Police classified the case as an attempted burglary. A surveillance camera captured the break-in attempt. Officers are investigating the case further.
They are looking for two men of Chinese ethnicity who are about 170 centimeters tall. They wore long-sleeve shirts, caps and face masks, and one of them was holding a wrench.
