The incident took place on September 4 in Coimbatore, where people had gathered to protest against the death of 17-year-old Anitha, who committed suicide after she failed to get a medical school seat.
The woman has not filed a complaint herself, but India Today reported that one was filed by the All India Democratic Women Association. An internal probe into the matter has been ordered.
