Two suspected militants were killed in a gunfight with security forces during a cordon-and-search operation on Monday in Sopore township in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, PTI reported.
Police said the militants opened fire on the troops, who had launched the operation after receiving a tip-off, and they retaliated. The dead militants have not been identified but they are believed to be locals.
