Militants killed a Border Security Force (BSF) constable in an apparent revenge attack on Wednesday evening at his home in Hajin, Bandipora district, according to media reports.
Three of 31-year-old jawan Rameez Parray’s family members were also shot in the attack.
Hindustan Times quoted SP Vaid, Jammu and Kashmir’s deputy general of police, as saying, “The militants accused Parray of being behind the cordon-and-search operation that took place in the area last night.”
“Three to four militants barged into Parray’s home and dragged him out. When they resisted, the attackers opened fire – fatally injuring Parray. He died later.”
According to The Indian Express, a BSF statement read, “Constable Rameez Ahmad Parray, a serving BSF personnel of 73 Battalion who was on leave, has been cowardly killed by terrorists today.”
Parray’s family members were shot when they tried to stop the intruders. The injured were rushed to hospital and Parray was declared dead on arrival.
